Division 2 saw a glut of goals as Elsternwick booted 22 on their way to a 63 point win over Monash Gryphons. The Wicks were well served by six goals from Hunter and five goals from Grace.
Former Wicks forward Aaron Thornton was also amongst the goals as he booted six for his new club St John’s in the JOCs 45 point win over MHSOB on the banks of the Yarra.
Northern Blues returned to the site of their Division 3 premiership, unfortunately this time, they faced the home tenants. Old Paradians celebrated their playing coach, David Boundy’s 200th game with a seven point win over Blues at the Garvey Oval. McRedmond might have kicked five, but a six goal to four final quarter saw Paradians over the line.
Ivanhoe thrashed Ricmond Central by 76 points in their round 1 opener at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. The Hoes were well served by Lovell with six goals, but it was their seven goal opening term that set up the win.
Old Eltham posted their own warning to the rest of the section with an 80 point humbling of South Melbourne Districts. Iaquinto with 6 goals, and Tranter 5 were the main men up forward for the Turtles.
