BANNISTER REACHES 100: DIVISION 1-4 WRAP

Jarrod Bannister became the first senior player in the VAFA to kick 100 goals in the home and away season since Ivanhoe’s Ashley Close in 2012 after the Therry Penola star kicked 12 goals in their win over Whitefriars. His 12th goal got to exactly 100 goals for the year and capped off Therry’s 17th win of the year. 
The race for the four is almost done in Division 1 as NOBs/St Pat’s ended Old Mentonians’ bid for a finals seat, defeating the Panthers by 58 points. O’Donoghue kicked four goals in the win. The Panthers can still make it should they do what no other side has done and defeat Therry Penola next week and hope Old Geelong lose, as well as overturning an 8% deficit. Tough ask, but not impossible. 
Old Geelong whilst not overly convincing, were able to dispatch Buleen Templestowe by 25 points. OGs controlled most of the second half but were inaccurate in front of goal throughout the day. This was in stark contrast to the Bullants who had 9.0 on the board at half time to lead by 8 points. Paul Florence was outstanding with five goals in a losing side. The Bullants now have next week as a last chance saloon to avoid relegation. 
Whitefriars will be hoping that they can take the Bullants equation out of their hands, however the Friars improve on their showing today as they went down to Therry Penola by 91 points. 
Williamstown CYMS made light work of Prahran Assumption, the CY’s handing the Two Blues a 121 point hiding. Luke Molan bagged 8 goals with the Gray’s Jack 5 goals and Ben 4 goals also joining in the party. 
Yarra Valley secured another year in Division 1 with a hard fought 17 point win over the already relegated MHSOB. Pollard kicked four goals for the Bushrangers who can be satisfied with a stabilising which included playing much of the season’s home games in different venues. 

Division 2 sides Ivanhoe and Elsternwick produced an absolute shootout in the Hoes 74 point win. Ivanhoe kicked 29.15.189 to Elsternwick’s 16.19.115, the Wick’s had seven goals from David Renton whilst Ivanhoe’s Mitchell Lovell continued his great form with 8 goals of this own. Zac Mowat also kicked five goals for Ivanhoe. 
Old Paradians locked down fourth spot with a 75 point win over Monash Gryphons. The Paradians return to September highlighted by nine goals from  David Boundy. 
St Johns’ late charge towards September ended with their 52 point loss to Kew. The Bears had 12 players kick goals in a good return to form. 
St Mary’s Salesian showed no mercy to South Melbourne Districts as they too tuned up for finals with a solid performance. The Saints ran out 106  point winners over South Melbourne, Ben Andrews the man of the moment with six goals. 
Old Eltham Collegians continued the trend of the top sides getting ready for fianls with big wins as the Turtles defeated Glen Eira by 117 points. Zach Tranter booted 8 goals and Brendan Dummett kicked five goals in the big win.

In Division 3, the game of the day was undoubtedly the matchup between second placed Northern Blues and third placed Aquinas. Blues held on for a one point win that sealed a top two placing. Matt Holmes booted five goals for Blues who stormed home kicking eight goals in the final quarter to overturn a 23 point three quarter time deficit. Jai Perret and Michael Niezan were great for four goals each for the Bloods. 
Emmuaus St Leos all but stitched up top spot with a comfortable 125 point thumping of Power House. Ryan Harding kicked 8 goals and Chris Beluszar five in an awesome display from the Animals. Power House cling onto a place in the six despite the loss. 
Richmond Central helped out Power House courtesy of their 13 point win over Albert Park. The win now makes Richmond Central certain of a finals showing whilst the Falcons will need results to fall their way in order to make it. 
Eley Park Sharks produced a memorable performance to out gun La Trobe University by 27 points. The win sees the Sharks draw level with the Students although, the Sharks percentage has them in the bottom two by 11%. 
Swinburne Uni kicked a cricket score in their 205 point win over South Mornington. Jye Bunge and Tom Kennedy both kicked seven goals each in the win that saw the Razorbacks move to third. 
St Francis Xavier effectively ended UHS-VU’s hopes of making the six as they beat the Vultures by 1 point are Brens Oval. The win for the X-Men leaves both they and UHS outside the six by a game and almost 20% with a  game to go. 

Hawthorn are a step closer to going through the Division 4 home and away season undefeated after the Hawks beat Box Hill North by 86 points. Again 12 Hawks were able to kick goals in the win. 
The most interesting results of the day though were the wins to Westbourne Grammarians over Canterbury by 98 points and Dragons defeat of Manningham Cobras by 19 points. The respective results mean that Grammarians are now just a game behind the Cobras and a mere 4.67% with a game to go. And only last week we thought the finals race was done! Lowden kicked five goals for the Dragons, whilst Arias and Schiano both booted five goals for Westbourne in their wins. 
Point Cook had 43 point win over North Brunswick, with the Bulldogs being led by Herbertson with five goals. 
West Brunswick had one of the biggest wins of their history when they defeated Chadstone by a staggering 283 points. No less than 16 West Brunswick players kicked a goal – you have to feel for the six that didn’t – Matt Holmes the best with 8 goals to his name. The final score of 45.20.290 to 1.17 demonstrating just how far Chadstone have to go as they look to next year. Muscat and McNulty also booted five goals in the win.
