Old Xaverians this morning announced that former two time premiership coach and five time premiership player Simon Lethlean will return to the club as co-coach with former Collegians Premier B premiership coach Pat Hawkins for the remainder of the 2014 season.
The new coaching group were introduced to the playing group last night at their regular Tuesday training session.
The two will be joined by a star studded cast of assistants as the club released in a statement this morning.
“Senior Assistant coach Ted Woodruff returns and will take ownership of the backs. Matt O’Hanlon, reserves premiership coach from last season, will manage the midfield as an assistant coach, and is joined by 3 time premiership player Tim Clarke, who takes ownership of the forwards.”
“Joining the group in support roles are 7 time premiership player and former captain Tim Ockleshaw, 5 time premiership player Andrew Brushfield, and 1997 premiership player Luke Gladman” as reported on oldxavs.com.au.
Luke Gladman (pictured with Lethlean above) was an assistant under Lethlean on Sunday coaching the senior Big V side to a win over AFL Queensland.
Last week Lethlean told VAFA TV he would certainly help the club if called upon.
Old Xaverians President Simon Hunt told vafa.com.au that it had been a tough fortnight.
“It is never easy in this situation, Dom (Berry) is a personal friend, a premiership player and coach of the club and of course will always be welcome at Old Xaverians” said Hunt.
“The reality is we now look forward to De La Salle and the club is focussed on the next challenge of this week’s game and ensuring we get the wins we need over the remainder of the season.“
At this stage the new appointments are for the remainder of the 2014 season, with a further review to be completed at the end of the year.
Old Xaverians currently sit 10th on the Premier ladder and are at home to De La Salle this weekend.

The genesis of Laura Kane’s journey to become one of footy’s most influential administrators can be traced back to her joining the VAFA’s Melbourne Uni women’s team as a 12-year-old.
“For many years, we dared to dream about being a serious footy club. We’ve managed to gain a different type of respect – the worthiness of being a ‘proper club’
