The AFL Victoria Metro Championships take place this Saturday at Carlton’s Visy Park and the VAFA squad to take on the Eastern Football League will complete their final preparations this week.
VAFA and Old Xaverians premiership winning midfielder Chris Waller was at Visy Park today for the media call and photo shoot to promote the day and he told reporters he was excited to be pulling on the Big V again.
“This will be my second game for the Big V and the standard of football is just brilliant when you get to representative level” said Waller.
The Jock Nelson Medallist wouldn’t be drawn on questions about whether the VAFA will retain it’s number 1 ranking at the final siren on Saturday.
“From what we understand the EFL will be a very good side, full of great footballers so the match could go either way. Lethers (Coach Simon Lethlean) has mentioned that the game will likely be determined on our ability to bond as a side and having played last year with a few of the guys, we hope that will be a big help.”
Commencing at 3:35pm, the match against the EFL is the final game in a triple-header between Melbourne’s six metropolitan football leagues.

Game 1: Western Region Football League (5th) v Southern Football League (6th) at 11:15am
Game 2: Essendon District Football League (3rd) v Northern Football League (4th) at 1:25pm
Game 3: Victorian Amateur Football Association (1st) v Eastern Football League (2nd) at 3:35pm

The genesis of Laura Kane’s journey to become one of footy’s most influential administrators can be traced back to her joining the VAFA’s Melbourne Uni women’s team as a 12-year-old.
“For many years, we dared to dream about being a serious footy club. We’ve managed to gain a different type of respect – the worthiness of being a ‘proper club’
