The second University of Melbourne derby highlighted a tremendous day of Premier football. It was top University Blacks who prevailed over University Blues for the fist time since 1982. In the end the margin was a comfortable 48 points. Former Blues coach Fergus Watts, on his playing debut was brilliant with five goals in the Blues loss. Slabbert and Lacey both kicked four goals in the win for the Blacks.
At Dairy Bell arch rivals De La Salle and Old Xaverians played out a subdued match The game lacked atmosphere (and a broadcast from quarter time – as the line that the radio commentary team of Inner FM use fell over at quarter time. Xavs made better decisions and executed their skill better than their opponents to win by 45 points. Brendan Goss finished with five goals.

In Premier B it was an absolute thriller at Gary Smorgon Oval with the visiting Old Melburnians hanging on to win by a point against AJAX.
Caulfield Grammarians won an important match against Parkdale Vultures. Matt Bolands 11 goals were not enough in this high scoring encounters, the Fields had Stewart kick five of his own in the 43 point win.
Old Brighton continue to build their premiership credentials, this time with an 86 point drubbing of Fitzroy. Mentiplay’s 8 goals were a standout out in the win that has the Tonners in the top two.
In the closest match of the day, St Kevin’s fell two points short of Old Haileyburians at Princes Park. The SKOBs led at the final change this week, but the final quarter heroics were carried out by the Bloods, as they snatched an important win to leave both sides 6-4, just outside the four on percentage.
Old Trinity rediscovered their mojo to wipe the winning smile from Werribee, The T’s defeating the Tigers by a whopping 103 points. Chamberlain’s six goals the leading goalkicker on the ground.
North Old Boys-St Pat’s almost pulled off the upset of the season in Premier C, but ultimately fell 7 points short of Monash Blues. NOBs –St Pat’s held an 11 point lead at ¾ time but couldn’t hold on.
Marcellin trounced Oakleigh by 50 points with Costanzo kicking five goals for the Eagles in the win.
Old Ivanhoe hosted top of the table Mazenod, and the ladder leaders gave the 4th placed Hoers a reality check, winning by 40 points. Heath Black kicked 6 goals for the Nodders who won their ninth match in a row.
PEGS crushed Peninsula by 101 points in a match that saw David Forrest kick 10 goals. It was not the only perfect 10 of the day as you will see in the Divisions.
