2025 Premier Thirds Men’s Fixture
The Premier Thirds competition delivered arguably the biggest upset of the entire VAFA season, with St Kevin’s claiming the flag in a 5-point thriller over Old Xaverians, who had finished
Another large crowd assembled at Sportscover Arena last night for the conclusion of senior fixtures in Premier B for round 8. Old Trinity played host to Old Haileybury in Thursday night footy and the nominated home team collected four points to take back with them to the sodden Trintiy playing fields.
In an carbon copy of Wednesday night’s match, Old Trinity had first use of the breeze and kicked five goals to none to the main scoreboard end of Elsternwick Park and never surrendered the lead from there.
On a night when the VAFA’s U23 State Representative team was being presented with their jumpers in the dining room overlooking the ground, it was significant that two former State Rep teammates from close to a decade ago were battling it out in the middle.
Veteran Old Haileyburian Mark Seccull was amongst the best for the Bloods but the 45 year old couldn’t quite match the feats of Andrew Ramsden who is six years his junior.
Rambo booted seven goals in the 32 point win that leaves Old Trinity on top of Premier B with a 7-1 record as they head into the bye.
Old Haileyburians Peter Gleadhill was the best player in a losing side whose 2013 record now sits at 4-4. Old Trinity were well served all over the park, but nothing was keeping Rambo out of the votes.
Congratulations to all involved who made this such a fantastic event, and the VAFA would like to thank the efforts of 96.5 Inner FM in broadcasting both the Wednesday and Thursday night matches at such late notice.

As one of the largest senior footy competitions in Australia, there’s always plenty happening behind-the-scenes at the VAFA. Why certain decisions get made isn’t always obvious, but there is always
