In a growing VAFA trend, Elsternwick have appointed well known former players and coaches Gary Rosewarne and Dennis Grace as dual coaches for 2013.
As players they have tallied over 500 games between them at Elsternwick.
Gary spent his playing career with the Wicks becoming the club’s most decorated player in terms of games played as well as captain of the team of the century and is a VAFA best and fairest winner.
Dennis played just short of 200 games at the club, with time spent in the Ovens and Murray and La Trobe Valley Leagues as well as A Grade of the Amateurs.
Garry has had two previous stints as coach taking the club to several finals appearances as well as to a runner-up promotion.
Dennis in his previous six year stint, took the club to a premiership in 2005 as well as final’s appearances in two other seasons.
He is also a premiership coach of the 2002 Monash Blues under 19 side.
Both bring contrasting styles but because of their long friendship as well as years on the cricket and football fronts together this will be a bonus in terms of melding smoothly together for the club’s success.
Gary is chief grounds manager at Xavier College while Dennis is a teacher and both desire to bring a creed of hard work, discipline and enjoyment.
Both believe in team bonding through commitment, sacrifice and laughter.
The principle motivation for both coaches is to prove that district sides can succeed in the VAFA.
