Christian Ryan is a valued member of the North Old Boys -St Patrick’s team and is a fomer Olympian representing Australia in the Men’s 8 rowing at the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he collected a silver medal.
As an old boy of of St Patrick’s Ballarat the decision to come and play at NOB / St Pat’s was an easy one as Christian played in the First XVIII at St Patrick’s in both 1994 and 1995, winning the Best and Fairest in both years.
Although rowing was his first passion, Christian completed his studies at Melbourne University and was a Premiership player at Newman College in the First XVIII .
Christian also completed a pre-season at Collingwood under Mick Malthouse.
He played football at Williamstown VFL followed by 5 years at Uni Blues A grade where he was a highly decorated player.
After several years away from the game, Christian did a lot of work on his own on his fitness levels and took until about round 6 of the 2012 seasonto hit his straps. In recent week he has been a very strong and versatile player with the ability to play in many positions on the ground.
In addition to his sporting achievements Christian is the Managing Director and Principal of Beulah Capital a highly successful wealth management business in Collins Street, Melbourne.
Christian has brought to NOB / St Pat’s a strong ethos of hard work and achievement and plays a pivotal role in the teaching our younger players the right way to approach football and life.
Unfortunately for the club he will be back in the think of the Olympic action this week, this time to to attend the London Olympics and support his mates sitting down with their backs to the finish line.
