HAWTHORN RECOMMENDATION RATIFIED

The VAFA Board last night ratified the recommendation of the investigation panel to fixture Hawthorn AFC in Division 4 for the 2013 season. 

The Board also determined that two clubs will be relegated from Division 3 and two clubs promoted from Division 4 at the conclusion of the 2012 season. 

Hawthorn will be joined by the lowest ranked club in Division 3 in being relegated to Division 4 regardless of where Hawthorn finishes on the ladder in season 2012. 

By approving the recommendation the integrity of the competition remains and it demonstrates that the VAFA takes the circumstances of this issue seriously. 

The Board would like to acknowledge the good conduct of Hawthorn since the findings of the investigation panel and highlight that Hawthorn has accepted complete responsibility for their actions and the subsequent penalties handed to them. 

The Board are delighted with the positive response the club has had since the investigation, winning their past two senior games, and hope that the club will continue play out this season in good spirit, and to ultimately grow stronger in the VAFA competition with a positive outlook for the future.
