Big V coaches confirmed for Bendigo clashes
The VAFA are delighted to announce that LUKE MAHONEY & PAUL CARRIGAN will lead the Big V into battle against Bendigo FNL in July. The VAFA will send two teams
In what shapes as enough classic C Section decider, long standing traditional rivals Ormond and Hampton Rovers will meet in front of a large and vocal crowd at the Sandringham Ground. Hampton Rovers had the better of Ormond in their Round 5 encounter at Boss James Reserve, holding off a fast finishing Ormond to win the game by 15 points. In the return match in Round 11 at E.E Gunn Reserve, Ormond flexed their muscles to account for the Rovers by 49 points. Again Ormond flashed home after trailing all day to run away with the match late in the final term. In what must be a worrying sign for the Rovers, the Monders again dominated late in their 2nd Semi-Final clash two weeks ago at Junction Oval, turning an 8 point three quarter time lead into a 19 point victory.
Ormond have the star power with Ex-Bulldog Matty Robbins and giant CHF Matt Martinov set to light up their forward line and perennial club and competition Best and Fairest Simon Keleher will be the General for them across Half Back. The Rovers will need all the experience and class of Gary Carr and Matty Lawrence to shine as well as their young guns in Ryan Semmell and Mark Deveraux to be at their very best for them to erase last year’s disappointing Grand Final loss and claim victory.
All in all, two evenly matched teams, two excellent Coaches, two long standing rivals should make for classic that will hopefully rival some of the C Section Grand Finals seen in recent years at this ground. One not to be missed.
