Ray suffered a heart attack on the 28th June and had been in ICU Austin hospital since that time. Ray started on the Committee of Ferndale Park in 1970, became Secretary in 1991 through to 1993 and remained on the Committee up until his death on Sunday 10th August 2008.
For many years since the 1950’s Ray has been involved with St.Mary’s FC ( now St.Mary’s / Salesian AFC) having held many positions such as Timekeeper, Secretary, President, and a Trainer. He is a Life Member and Gold Saint member and was well respected throughout the general football community. Ray was a life member of the Eastern Suburban Churches Football Association and held the post of Secretary / CEO for a number of years.
Ray is survived by his wife Kath, son Peter, daughter in law Heather, daughter Judith along with five grand children. Ray will be long remembered for his conscientious attention to any task undertaken and gave freely of his time as a volunteer member of various sporting and community organizations. In God’s Care.
