Bulleen Templestowe Amateur Football Club

With one of the best strike rates of any VAFA club that has joined the Association in the past 40 years, Bulleen Templestowe are a club with great panache. The Bullants commenced in the VAFA in 1975 and within the space of just year had climbed the VAFA ladder to find themselves in A Section. A slowish start meant the club took a couple of seasons to find their fight but what followed was an explosion of success. Eight straight finals appearances, collecting back to back premierships in 1978-79, runners-up (C Section) in 1981, premiers (B Section) in 1983 and third placed finish in their first season in A Section in 1984. Whilst that 1980’s flourish was the club’s only period in the top section of the VAFA, they were heady times for a club in its infancy. At the same time the seniors were at their peak, the club’s junior program was the dominant force in the VAFA. Their U19s won five premierships in this period too. As the old boys clubs, namely Marcellin who the Bullants compete for talent from, started to find their feet in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it is no coincidence that Bulleen Templestowe gradually fell back to Division 2. However after 21 years, the club secured another senior flag in 2004. Since then, it has been a steady climb with further premierships added in 2008 (Division 1) and 2012 (Division 2). In 2017, the Bullants fielded a team in Development Division 4 of the VAFA Women’s competition after playing the first-ever game (not for points) against West Brunswick in 2016.
